Working from his studio in an old shipyard on the outskirts of Amsterdam, Lex Pott is a Dutch designer creating homewares characterised by their simplicity, minimalism and use of high-quality natural materials. His unique creations, which are at the same time eye-catching yet understated, capture the elegance and beauty of everyday objects.
The twist candles use the flexibility of wax. Candles are usually straight and therefore need a base. In this project we tried to combine both base and the candle in a single material shape. Resulting in one candle double ends candle. The liquid state of wax was a starting point in this project. By bending and twisting candles a new typology appears combining form, function and fun.
Working independently or in collaboration with established brands, Pott’s designs are sure to elevate any space. His latest collaboration is with Seem Soap Studio, who are based in Paris. They transform soap into an ephemeral object, a sculpture that will vary with time and use. Developed and handcrafted in their atelier in Paris, the soaps also come in fully-recyclable packaging made in France.
